Tuesday, August 2 is National Night Out for cities and towns across the United States, and Holland and Zeeland both plan to host events full of family fun and connect with local public safety agencies.
Holland’s National Night Out event is at 5:30-8 p.m. at Kollen Park, 240 Kollen Park Drive, Holland, featuring food trucks, the Holland Department of Public Safety’s Polar Patrol ice cream truck, a DJ and resource booths from community nonprofits and neighborhood organizations.

The night is an opportunity to get to know HDPS police officers and firefighters in a positive environment and build neighborhood connections and camaraderie.
Zeeland’s National Night Out features the Zeeland Police Department and Zeeland Fire/Rescue Department and plenty of activities for family fun. The night will include giveaways, a dunk tank, root beer floats, fire trucks and police cars. Representatives from the Ottawa County Central Dispatch Authority, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, American Medical Response and Michigan State Police are also expected to be in attendance.
Swimwear is suggested for children who wish to participate in activities at the splash pad or get drenched by a fire hose.
The event is 6-9 pm on Elm Street near the downtown splash pad.
